Packing for Devon Summer 2020

We’ll soon be off on our first staycation this Summer and although it’s not what we had planned, it will be so nice to have a change of scenery.

Devon is not a hotbed of style and I expect we’ll be doing a lot of walking, so I’ll mostly be wearing quite casual clothes but I’m so excited just to pack a bag, I thought I may as well share what’s in it.

The first is an essential I never would have thought I needed; masks. If like me, you have tried on and ordered quite a few different ones, only to find a lot of them don’t fit properly; it can be quite frustrating.

I have a weirdly small face so my favourite are the Brora masks from the kids section:

These I find, are really secure and handily have a wire over the nose. They wash really well and although not cheap, half of the proceeds go towards charities helping those who have been affected with Covid 19. They are made from off-cuts of Liberty fabrics and are have 3 layers of fabric. The only downside is you can’t select which print you get in the kids section online, although I think they might change this.

I’ve also ordered a few new things to replace some old worn/yellowing pieces in my wardrobe. (I wanted a few things that were nice but not overly special for mucking around on the river):

The knit is a fun find and I sized up one (it’s nearly sold-out). It looks great with jeans and shorts and reminds me of a much lighter, cheaper version of the Ganni Julliard sweaters as it’s a similar shape.

The striped tee is a great staple (I sized up one for a loose fit); I love that it has quite a wide white neck band which makes it quite flattering with a tan.

A few other slightly more expensive items I’ll be taking are:

The tank  comes up really small (I sized up x2) and is quite thick for the style but I love the high neck-line and the fact that its cut quite high around the shoulder and armpit.

I’ll be wearing these with my old denim shorts, linen trousers and jeans.

In the UK it’s important to have different layers and clothes of various thicknesses in the Summer. I think this will be a good blend and I can elevate everything with a smattering of gold jewellery.

Shoes-wise I’ll be taking trainers, some old tan sandals and these new black ones:

The tan sandals I’m taking are similar to this: I find it’s more comfortable to have the tie around the ankle for a bit more security.

I’m a big fan of TKEEs flip flops and really wanted a simple black wrap-around sandal as I lived in my old Michael Kors ones last Summer.

I’m really glad I went for these. I sized down down one and they’re perfect. The soles of TKEEs shoes are so soft and comfortable and these come in a few essential colourways. (This pic on the bed was them fresh out of the bag, in case it’s freaking anyone out!)

We’re hoping the weather will be good enough that we can do some paddle boarding so I’ll be taking one of my new swimsuits which I adore and an old neoprene swimsuit from DUSKII (similar to the one below):

I have now bought two of these JETS swimsuits as they are really beautiful and so comfortable (and probably why they have nearly sold-out). Not sure they’d be best for those with a big bust though as they have quite a plunging neckline.

I’ll also take one or two Summer dresses and a shirt.

Bag-wise I’ll mostly be taking totes that I can pack quite a lot into.

My favourites are my fun crochet one from My Beachy Side (no longer available but I’ve linked to a similar one on Etsy below) and my Ganni leopard print one (again old,  but similar below):

Even when I’m keeping things casual I do like to wear a bit of gold jewellery so I’ll inevitably be taking some hoops and a chain necklace with me and I also bought this lovely shell bracelet in the Matches sale:

It’s currently half price and they also have a an extra 20% off at the moment as well. (It would also make a really nice gift for someone.)

Here’s hoping for some decent weather!
