The Knitwear Edit (Winter 2016)

I definitely have a love/hate relationship with knitwear. I love the fact that it keeps me warm and cosy and feels beautifully soft (spot the cashmere addict) but hate that it’s difficult to look/feel chic whilst wearing it and living in the UK I pretty much have to wear it all-year-round. I am constantly buying knitwear of various colours/weights and now have a rather large collection. However, that never stops me from searching for the nirvana of knitwear – an unbelievably soft jumper, with contrasting textures and colours. Hence, I am always on the lookout and therefore thought I’d share with you what I’m loving this season (click on image for link):

Under £150

Anything with texture or print (or preferably both) is high up on my wishlist as it can really elevate a pair of jeans or plain pair of trousers. For cashmere I’m particularly loving Brora this season as they have collaborated with Sibling to bring some great colours and prints to their knits. Chinti & Parker and 360 Cashmere are also favourites for the same reason.

Cashmere (£250+)

Ugh! I’m seriously in lust with all of the above! Particularly the striped trousers and  palm print pink and blue jumper from Chinti & Parker. I already own their star-print cashmere joggers which are unbelievably luxurious (I was lucky as I managed to find some on Vestaire Collective). Also in my wardrobe is the lovely blue zigzag knit from Brora which is very Missoni-esque and I also own one of these 360 cashmere star-print jumpers but in blue and pink – it’s one of my favourites. If only cashmere wasn’t so expensive!

Cashmere is always on my list as unfortunately I can’t wear wool. If you are not a massive fan of colour and print, these pieces maybe more to your taste:

This Winter I am in love with N.Peal for plain knits, as they have some lovely more weighty cashmere (it’s also worth checking The Outnet as they often stock N.Peal at reduced prices). I’m favouring anything with a high neck for extra warmth. I have recently bought myself the cream polo neck above and loved it so much I’ve also bought another one in plum. They are amazing quality. I’m also hankering after another of their cashmere shawls as I bought one two years ago and it has turned out to be a real hero piece, particularly when travelling, as it is big enough to use as a blanket as well as a shawl or generous scarf.

As I get older I have found that I’m moving away from black and am drawn to a mix of bright colours and more softer tones. It definitely helps to lift my mood and skin tone in the Winter months!

Spending money on knitwear for me is worth the investment as I really feel the cold, however I am shocked by the prices sometimes. I am often surprised to see some very expensive pieces made from relatively cheap materials, so it is definitely worth checking the composition before you buy. The really expensive knits I fall in love with I put on my wishlist & wait for the sales, hoping that they’ll eventually go to 70% off (it does happen occasionally!).

 Hope for Sales Pieces

My love for colour, pattern, textures & print lives on – I’m so pleased that there is so much variety on offer this season! Going into Winter with an arsenal of cheerful knitwear in my wardrobe really proves to me how what I wear can effect my mood.

Which pieces are your favourite this season?

    Hi Emma
Many thanks for your suggestions I appreciate it! The M Missoni sweater is similar and nice so I will think on that one, so annoyed I always miss out and I love the vibrant ocean blue colours brora have used. They have done a lot of brighter wave knits in the past but seem to be doing a more dull palette this season but I will keep a look out and appreciate you looking out for me!
    Kind Regards
