I have been very fortunate to stay at Soho Farmhouse twice now. Once with my family staying in a family cabin and just recently with a friend, staying in a two bedroom cabin. Both trips were a huge success and already I am itching to return!

The Farmhouse is not really a farmhouse (although there is one on site that you can stay in) but more of a resort. If you are travelling to the UK for the first time and are looking for something quintessentially British with a traditional Cotswolds’ feel, then this is probably not for you. However if you are looking for a rustic-chic countryside retreat that is nothing like you’ve experienced before – that will make you smile from ear-to-ear as well as pamper you in every way – then look no further.

The best way I can describe it is; Western movie set meets Little House on the Prairie, meets luxury resort. Hopefully the photos will back me up on this!

Two Bedroom Cabin                  

The 2-bed cabin I stayed in had a living room/kitchenette, 3 balconies overlooking the stream and 2 kingsize bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and claw-foot baths. These cabins are great for a group of friends or two couples (or, as in our case, two friends – one of whom snores).

As the grounds are quite extensive you get these beautiful Foffa bikes to cycle around on. If that’s too strenuous then you can call your cabin ‘butler’ to pick you up in a car or flag down the horse and cart.

It is so wonderful to sit in front of the woodburner with a glass of red watching the ducks swim leisurely past your door.

The bathrooms come stocked with lovely Cowshed products and the bed linen is dreamy. You also get milk delivered to your door and all the mod-cons you could need. The room service is particularly good – so good that you could quite happily go there and never leave your cabin. (No fear of cabin fever either.)

Family Cabin

The Family Cabin we stayed in, consisted of a large kitchen/sitting room (even more spacious than the 2-bed cabin above), a downstairs bunk-bed room with ensuite bathroom and an upstairs kingsize bedroom with beautiful separate bathroom. These cablins are not so close to the water for obvious reasons!

The interiors are stunning and we felt very pampered – definitely more chic than rustic!

The children loved it and there are plenty of things to keep them amused such as horse riding, swimming, mini-golf, rowing and cycling (they also have a play ground, crèche and babysitters). Understandably, they only have a few family cabins so you do need to book well in advance.
