I have to confess, that I started writing a ‘wishlist’ edit and then quickly realised practically everything on it was an accessory.
They really are my weak-spot. Particularly bags and earrings.
This Spring/Summer there are some amazing pieces around and I know I said I was trying to be good but I have failed miserably already. I think it’s all the unusual top-handle bags which I already mentioned in my last post and I completely caved when I saw this marbled Cult Gaia beauty (link here):
It’s so unusual and so pretty; despite having a lot of bags, I just couldn’t resist. Not exactly the most practical bag either but definitely one I’ll treasure. I’ve also seen it in white here but I love the fact it looks like green malachite.
Other bags I’m loving are:
Another unusual accessory I’ve bought recently is this Etro straw hat. It’s been on my wishlist for about 6 weeks and I just kept thinking about it. I’ve never seen a straw hat like it and love the animal print band contrasting with the amazing geometrical print.
I’m not feeling guilty about this purchase as it replaces my Summer hat I wrecked last year and I know I won’t bore of it. Etro always has the most amazing ‘global traveller’ pieces and I still have and wear a couple of their Winter hats from about 6 years ago. I love that they come in different sizes (they are low in stock though – link here).
Other hats I’m loving are:
Unusual accessories are a great way of giving your wardrobe a new lease of life or simply elevating a plain high-street look into something a bit more interesting.
Every Summer I do tend to buy myself some new accessories above anything else as I get an awful lot of wear out of them, year after year. I am currently hankering after some new earrings but haven’t found ‘the ones’ yet. I’ll definitely be getting out my beloved Rebecca de Ravenel shell jewellery (similar necklace on sale here) from last year and also love Etro’s shell pieces:
I love the contrast of shells with pearls and the brown shells are quite unusual.
Other earrings currently topping my wishlist are Rebecca de Ravenel’s chilli peppers, Misho’s gold links and anything by Paola Vilas and Leigh Miller:
Shoes take up a lot of space in my wardrobe (I like to keep them in their boxes) so I don’t intend to buy any new pairs this Season (time will tell if I can resist). It doesn’t stop me drooling over them though. A couple on my wishlist are:
Gucci strawberries (I get a great deal of wear out of all my Gucci trainers) and these asymmetrical Jimmy Choo pumps – so, so good.
My next post will be a ‘packing for…’ post. I can’t wait to go away, even though I’m only taking hand luggage.
