Summer Accessories are a great way to get excited for Summer (even when it’s raining oustside) and upcoming holidays. At the moment I am really trying to be more conscious about buying things (which doesn’t come naturally to me!) so I haven’t invested heavily in accessories this year as I have so many in my existing wardrobe.
If you are unlike me however, and feel that your Summer wardrobe needs a bit of a ‘refresh’, I always think accessories are a great place to start, as they can be quite transformative – even with the simplest of outfits. It can look amazingly chic to have an all white/monochromatic outfit (which doesn’t need to be expensive – Zara, Urban Outfitters and Mango have some nice linen pieces this season) with a simple pair of earrings, a beautiful basket bag and sleek slides for day or arty earrings, heels and a fabulous clutch for the evening.
Here are my picks:
Under £100
My obsession with Zara slides continues this Summer (I continue to live in the ones I bought last year) so it was a no-brainer when I saw these black crystal-embellished ones. It’s really nice to have a pair of slides that are slightly more dressy for the evening.
Under £200
Statement earrings feature heavily in this post as they are such an important feature in my Summer wardrobe. I bought these Leigh Miller silver and gold earrings last year (they’re now back in stock) and wear them a lot – they are really light and comfy to wear and I love the fact that they’re not symmetrical.
I absolutely adore this Sensi Studio vase basket. It would look so great with a cream linen dress and because it’s a statement piece it will have greater longevity in your wardrobe (I’m really hoping it will make it to the sale!).
Under £500
Basket bags are always great in warm weather and I love that both Heidi Klein and Muzungu Sisters have bought out mini versions of their most popular bags. (I have the big versions but am really tempted by these as they are much more packable.)
I’m looking for a new Summer hat to go with everything and I think this Gucci one is surprisingly good value. Unfortunately I have got a very narrow head, otherwise I definitely would buy it!
Net-a-Porter has got some really great earrings and are stocking some exciting new jewellery designers – one of which is Paola Vilas. I fell in love with these earrings as soon as I saw them and they are a great arty alternative to hoops.
Over £500
I have noticed that slides feature heavily in this post! I realise now, that for me they are the best Summer shoe. The lack of straps mean they are less likely to rub and whenever I go on holiday they are always the first thing I reach for. Dolce & Gabbana definitely do the most beautiful ones.
D&G also do some of the most fun (and ridiculously expensive) fashion jewellery. I am absolutely salivating over these lemon earrings which are huge and probably weigh a tonne!
A more practical investment is this gorgeous Figue bag. These are always on my wishlist (I have 2 already) as they truly are beautifully-made. They are ideal travel companions thanks to their extremely comfy, soft, rolled-leather handles and drawstring closure.
What accessories are you lusting after this Summer?
