There’s nothing like packing for a Summer holiday when it’s raining outside!Β It’s such a great feeling and so nice to see my Summer wardrobe again. Plus I actually have hold luggage for this trip – woohoo!
This is a family holiday and we’re going to be spending it partly in the Catalonian countryside and partly in Barcelona, so I need to pack for beach/pool/countryside AND city life. For ease I’ve decided to mostly pack dresses. (Click image for link – where the product is old/sold out I have either left it without a link or a put a link to something similar.)
Dresses:
If you read my ‘Summer Buys’ post you should recognise a few of these dresses and I’m pleased to report Urban Outfitters answered my sartorial prayers and bought out their Emilia dress in a couple more colours – so I bought it in black and red as well. These dresses are great for sightseeing with flats and a basket in the day and can be dressed up for the evening with heels, chunky earrings and colourful clutches. (They’ve sold out of the white one but they now do a really lovely blue & white striped version here.)
Accessories:

Accessories are vital for pulling an outfit together and so it’s good to try things on before you pack, to see what will go with what.
My latest bargain finds have been these sunglasses – unfortunately you can no longer buy them online but they’re available in-store at Gap Kids! I’m constantly on the lookout for new sunglassses and have wanted some fun coloured ones for ages. I have tried on countless designer pairs but my freakishly child-sized head looks ridiculous in them – my youngest son actually chose the orange ones for himself and thinking they were rather amazing, I tried them on and rather fell in love with them (I haven’t told him yet, that I’ve bought the same pair for myself!).
I have to admit I am taking rather a lot of bags but they all pack fairly well (the vintage orange Balenciaga and Gucci crossbody will serve as my hand luggage). No doubt I will regret taking only one clutch but because I am usually the packhorse of the family I inevitably end up needing a bigger bag for carrying other people’s things as well as my own!
(The clutch is by Charlotte Olympia and is sadly no longer available – I also love this one.)
My weakness for shoes shows in my packing – it’s so hard to narrow down which ones to take!
I’m taking quite a few slides as they are so comfy and mainly sticking to colourful shoes as the clothes I’m taking are either fairly neutral or block colours (apart from the poolside coverups).
Swimwear:

I tend to mix and match my bikinis to try and avoid strap marks so these are just a few I’ll be taking. I love this Stella McCartney one – oranges and lemons definitely fit with the Spanish ‘theme’, hence my rather citrus-coloured accessories!
Coverups:
I’m afraid all the above are old purchases, mostly from The Outnet. I tend to buy Missoni & Pucci in the sales as it is rather expensive but I adore the colours and patterns.
Trousers & Tops
As usual I’ll be wearing some trousers on the plane and will also take another pair – they are great protection against mosquitos and I think there’s something very chic about a great printed pair (these are Issa but old – I also like these and these) and some classic linen.
What will you be packing in your Summer suitcase?
