Weirdly I feel like I’ve been quite good on the shopping front lately. Either I’m deluding myself or that strict talking-to I gave myself has worked. When I buy things for Spring this is not uncommon, as usually I can’t wear the things I’ve bought straight away (thanks to the British weather) so I squirrel them away conveniently forgetting about them in the process.
I’ve been trying to buy a bit more consciously lately instead of panic buying in the fear of missing out. So with that in mind I’ve invested in a few new belts as I have very few in my wardrobe.
The leopard print one is a new brand to Net-A-Porter called Anderson’s. I really like the quality and good value. It’s really soft & a nice skinny belt that brings a bit of fun to smart trousers or jeans.
The Gucci belt has been on my wishlist for a while as I needed a small size and they’re quite difficult to get hold of. When it finally came back in stock I snapped it up as I really wanted it to go with my paler more light-weight trousers. It’s a beautiful dirty/dusty pink/taupe which is a refreshing alternative to the usual black or brown.
It looks different in different lights & depending on what it’s with but it goes with most Spring/Summery colours.
I’ve also added a few new tops to keep things fresh and up-to-date:
Yes, I couldn’t resist another Gucci tee – my top tip is to buy a man’s one. They are much cheaper & I prefer the fit. Just wish I’d known this before! It’s true that they don’t have the embroidery on the back but I think I’d tire of that anyway, plus there’s basically a £300 difference between the the two. This one actually fits me better (I bought the XS) and the sleeves aren’t so long and annoying. They sell out fast but if you add them to your wish list you’ll receive notification of when they’re back in stock.
I love the pop of bright colours against the black background and the fact it goes with my new Prada baby.
I bought this Michael Michael Kors cotton lace-up white top as it will be ideal for the city breaks I have planned. I like the way it falls, the detail of the lacing and the comfortable cotton in a nice soft, flattering white. It will look great with a tan.
Third is the not so Spring-like N.Peal cashmere poloneck. It’s nice to have something I can wear now but in a paler colour to lift the spirits on grey days. I love the contrast of pink with tougher black & it looks great with jeans. I’ve worn it a lot already and understandably there aren’t many left on The Outnet (similar here). N.Peal is one of my favourite cashmere brands – particularly for more heavy-weight high quality cashmere and if I can snap it up at a reduced price – even better!
I also bought these on The Outnet:
The M Missoni dress will be great for travelling and can be dressed down for day and up for evenings so I think I’ll get a lot of wear out of this. The coat was just love at first sight. Colour, print and a 60s silhouette = my nirvana. I am always on the lookout for statement coats/jackets as they are quite hard to find (I think a lot people avoid them for safer, plain colours) but they really are great to have in your wardrobe as you can throw them over the most mundane outfit and they make you look and feel amazing. I’m definitely dressing more for myself as I get older and I enjoy wearing colour – it’s surprising how many more smiles and compliments you get when you wear something cheerful.
Unusually my wish lists are not brimming over. I think it’s because there’s not much in fashion at the moment that I feel I haven’t seen before. Either that or some of the ruffles/deconstructed pieces I know won’t work in reality with my broad shoulders. Still doesn’t stop me lusting after a few though. Top of my list are these pieces:
Not a massive surprise that there are some Aquazzura shoes in the mix and a beautiful coloured top from Roksanda! I am totally in love with this Gul Hurgel dress and have been for about a year, I adore the way she mixes stripes with whimsical shapes and frills, managing to keep them timeless in the process. I need to try it on as I’m fairly sure it will drown me in ruffledom so I may as well get it out of my system and move on (I always feel a rush of smugness when I return items anyway).
What are you going to be wearing this Spring?

I like cotton lace-up white top! I guess it must a perfect couple with high waist flare pants. With spring right around the corner, I need to build my new spring wardrobe!

Yes! It would look great with high-waisted flares. Still cold here so can’t wait to get rid of all the layers. X
